– S Delafont 2011 Languedoc, Pic-St Loup  16.5  Drink 2013-2016
60% Syrah, 40% Mourvèdre. Half aged in barrique. Very dark crimson. Meaty, serious, almost too treacly but just misses. Mid atlantic in its appeal. Satisfying and very well put together. Made for fairly immediate appeal. But very well done. Sort of Secret des Grands Chefs of the Languedoc! 14.5%

– S Delafont 2011 Languedoc, La Clape 16 Drink 2013-2016
Blend of Syrah, Mourvedre, Grenache, Carignan. Crimson. Rich and ripe and not that distinctive to me. Dusty. A tad too ripe?  Meaty.  14.5%

– S Delafont 2011 Limoux   15.5+  Drink 2014-2016
Grown at 450 m and fermentation and ageing in barriques as per the regulations for this appellation conceived when barrel-fermented Chardonnay was the height of fashion. Surprisingly light nose. Chewy and as yet unformed. It would be very easy to overlook this youthful wine in a line-up. Still high in acidity with a little astringency, it will probably emerge into something rather impressive – good structure – but is still a bit of an awkward teenager.13.5%
